Workshops with Susana Miller, Master Teacher of Buenos Aires

Clarin, one of the top Buenos Aires newspapers, called Susana one of the four most important influences on contemporary tango, along with Miguel Angel Zotto, Gustavo Naveira and Gerardo Portalea. She is the owner of El Beso, a club in the center of Buenos Aires that is known for the high level of tango danced there. Susan is one of the leading teachers of "milonguero style," the close embrace style danced in Buenos Aires clubs. Susan is giving special workshops in New York City October 22, 24, 25, 2009.

Workshop Schedule

This is a special opportunity to study with a master teacher who has greatly influenced the way tango is danced today in Buenos Aires. These workshops are for intermediate and advanced dancers only.


Thursday 22 at 8pm 'Corridas' (Int)

The body of the man is a bandoneon. Our steps create the circulation: one step transforms into many others. Corridas (fast steps/run) backwards and forwards. For women: balance in the walk, how to support the feet to avoid pain and gain fluidity.


Saturday 24 at 3:00pm Voleos in milonguero stile

We will work on pauses and voleos to Pugliese

The legs "listen". Technique for balanced turns. Double giro to the right with sacada to the left. Cepillos. For women: The body of the woman is a violin. Balance and fluidity in giros and the backwards ocho.
