10 tips for beginner dancers to have an enjoyable milonga experience

Here are our tips to have a great time at the milonga!

1 Wear comfortable shoes: Milongas can last for several hours, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes that will allow you to dance all night long. If you wear heels, bringing a pair with shorter heels may be helpful!

2 Dress comfortably: Wear clothes that allow you to move freely and comfortably. Avoid anything too tight or restrictive.

3 Practice proper hygiene: It's important to maintain proper hygiene when dancing in close proximity with others. Take a shower, use deodorant, bring a change of clothes if you excessively sweat, and bring a towel to wipe off sweat during breaks.

4 Respect the line of dance: The line of dance is the counter-clockwise direction around the dance floor. Always move in the line of dance and avoid cutting in front of other dancers.

5 Be mindful of the music: Pay attention to the beat of the music and adjust your steps accordingly. Remember, tango is a dance that is deeply connected to the music.

6 Embrace the connection: Tango is a dance that relies heavily on connection between partners. Embrace your partner and maintain a strong connection throughout the dance.

7 Don't worry about mistakes: Everyone makes mistakes, especially beginner dancers. Don't let mistakes discourage you, and keep practicing to improve your skills.

8 Take breaks: Milongas can be tiring, so take breaks when you need to rest and recharge. Use the break to chat with other dancers, observe the floor, or just relax.

9 Be respectful: Show respect to your fellow dancers, the organizers, and the venue. Don't talk loudly on the dance floor, and avoid any inappropriate behavior.

10 Enjoy the experience: Above all, remember to enjoy the experience! Milongas are a great opportunity to dance, socialize, and immerse yourself in the tango culture. So have fun and savor every moment.
